THURMAN W. ARNOLD III , JD, CFLS
225 South Civic Drive, Ste. 1-2
Palm Springs, CA 92262
Thurman attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1974, receiving a Commendation of Excellence for his academic performance studying behavioral psychology. In 1976 he moved to the University of California at Santa Barbara, graduating with Honors in 1979. He attended the Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, in 1979 and received his Juris Doctorate in June, 1982.
In November, 1982, Arnold was admitted to the California Bar and joined his father in the Palm Springs' practice. Ever since his interests have focused on individuals and families having legal issues.
In 28 years as a family law attorney he has represented hundreds of family law litigants and scores of people in divorce mediation. Thurman is a California Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS).
The Arnold tradition is one of commitment and ethics. Thurman is a student of mindfulness practices. These provide remarkable tools for managing the litigation lives of clients, and for defusing high conflict divorces.
Thurman aims today to contribute his energies to helping bring about a positive shift in the way that lawyers perceive their own roles in the conduct of litigation and alternatives to litigation.
Thurman has extensive training in collaborative law and mediation, including from such luminaries in the peacemaking world as Forrest "Woody" Mosten and Gary Friedman. He is a regular contributor on a number of public interest websites including Mediate.com, CuttingEdge.com, and others.
He practices collaborative law in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. Since collaborative processes occur outside of court, practical geographic limitations do not apply to restrict his availability to serve separating couples and partners at fair rates within Southern California!
